Houston Uniform & Apparel Company was founded in 1979 by Vicki Pappas Giannukos.
The business originally started to help outfit her family’s restaurant business by manufacturing and sewing aprons for their wait staff.
Through Vicki’s fashion background HUA evolved into full service design custom uniform firm. Vicki’s talents helped design a unique look for the Pappas Restaurant chain’s various concepts. This Image helped drive customers back and differentiate concepts such as Pappasitos and Pappadeaux from their competition. The uniform became a key part of the service and excellence that the families’ restaurants became well known for.
Houston Uniform designs, manufactures, and embroiders many of the items it provides In-house. This helps the company achieve the fastest turn around times in the industry.
In 2001 Vicki’s son John Giannukos bought and took over the company. After graduating from Texas Tech University and being a partner in the Investment Banking firm SMH Capital John decided it would be nice to take the family business to the next level.
Since 2001 Houston Uniform has tripled in size and now in addition to the hospitality industry services Industrial customers as well. HUA has invested in modern new machinery and equipment to help serve it’s expanding customer base. Additionally, new technology such as a web based accounting and order fulfillment software has helped propel Houston Uniform to new levels.
